“And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped Him in swaddling clothes, and laid Him in a manger; Because there was no room for them in the inn.”St. Luke 2:7
Christmas is such a beautiful time of the year. There is the reality that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. The whole world feels the impact of the miracle of a virgin named Mary who gave birth to the Son of God. Jesus was born of a virgin and conceived of the Holy Ghost.
This is the miracle of God, given to us, to take away our sins. Therefore, we rejoice in Him. We sing praises to Him and of Him as we celebrate the greatest gift ever given. We wrap presents as Mary wrapped Jesus in swaddling clothes and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for Him in the inn. And still today, people will not make room for Jesus, even at Christmas. Too busy to come and worship the Christ child.
May God be merciful to this generation, who are more concerned for material gain, than for the adoration of seeing the Son of God who came to save the world. Jesus, I pray, open our eyes and our hearts for I long to see the light of God to the gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel (St. Luke 2:32) shine once again through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen!
