…Every one that keepeth the Sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant; even them will I bring to my Holy Mountain, and make them joyful in my House of Prayer.”
Isaiah 56:6-7The word Sabbath means to rest. Among the Hebrews, moreover, the Sabbath was associated with the idea of rest, worship, and divine favor. Jesus came into conflict with the religious leaders of His day and taught that the Sabbath was made for man’s benefit, and that man’s needs must take precedence over the law of the Sabbath.
Since the Lord’s resurrection was considered to be the most blessed day in the lives of Christians, they began early on to meet for worship on the first day of the week and designated it as the Lord’s Day. The main purpose is to keep a day of rest and worship and honor the Lord.
Jesus quoted the verse above in Luke 19:46, expressing the sacredness of God’s house and the blessing of joy mentioned in Isaiah for gathering in prayer. The Spirit of this day is to forsake the assembling of ourselves together, and the slackness of prayer.
God has always blessed the congregation that will maintain the coming together in the Spirit of Prayer. I am feeling the great need to do all I can to encourage prayer. Beginning in March, I would like to renew the Sunday night prayer service. Please allow the Lord to touch your heart in participating in this urgent need. I know God will bless us if we will.Love,
Pastor Larry
